Last Sunday I found this at a fleamarket, the patterns are so fascinating. So oldfashioned yet so modern, don't think I will ever get tired of looking at it.

A great find indeed. I love the combination of geometric with florals. Wonder who did that. Fleamarkets, what a bliss!
ReplyDeleteyes, i am so so curious about who made it too :)
DeleteOh that's lovely! So much to admire.
ReplyDeleteLucky lucky! It's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow, I have so many questions about it that only the original owner could answer! Was it a sampler for a young girl (or an older woman) to practice different stitches? Was it displayed in a room in a certain way so that the sunlight faded the top half of the sampler but left the bottom half with brighter colors? It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh wow!!!! The patterns at the bottom especially intrigue me, as a few of them mimic weave patterns! These are so intricate, I can't imagine how much time it took the creator to finish them all!
ReplyDeleteVilken fantastisk märktavla! Köper själv gärna dessa "broderikörkort" på loppisar. / Anna
ReplyDeleteWow. It is a stunning find.
ReplyDeleteoh, wow. embroidery is very popular in greek folk art as well. i can't stop copying these patterns on sketches, so i can totally understand how you can't stop looking at it. great finding at the flea market!

ReplyDeleteI envy you! I've been wanting to find a great embroidered piece for ages, but our thrift stores aren't as impressive as I want them to be. This is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI've just run through a list of all fleamarkets in my head, trying to figure out where you found it. My guess would be Arkonaplatz (but maybe that's the obvious one)? My second would be the fleamarket at John-F-Kennedy-Platz in front of the Rathaus Schöneberg!
ReplyDeletef i n !
