Choices

White lilies in my hallway. My family never had white lilies at home, they were called funeral flowers. I love them.

I'm resting today, fighting a cold. Also, I got the news that a friend decided to leave life... Usually I don't write about those things on my blog, but today I do. He grew me this rose some years ago and I hope I will keep it alive for a long long time. It's the only plant surviving the move from Sweden to Germany (I had it with me on the plane).

View from the sofa.

...

The lamp is a gift from my dad, the 'Vespa' sign (you see half of it behind the lamp) is a gift from my friend who left life, the doll is a gift from my husband when we celebrated a year together.

A plant that is full of life.

My all-you-can-eat buffet.

Don't worry about me, I am fine and have such great memories of my friend - we've been down this road before so the news weren't too shocking. I hope he's happier where he is now (together with his beloved Lisa). This post is for him, we shared a quite bizarre sense of humour that I will miss :)

  4. I´m so sorry to hear that story. A friend of mine left life at the beginning of this year - leukemia. It´s so sad. Life can be short, and we all don´t know, when it´s ending. But it shows, that we should live every single day. They´re good days!

  14. the most amazing thing about your blog post is the evolution of the rose. it's good to have beautiful things that people leave behind, or give you as a present. though, i am sure your friend presented you with many other things (his humor, as you say, for instance).

it's strange how cruel life can be sometimes. and how people deal with it.

i am very sorry for your friend. hope he is in rest now.

    feel better with your flu.

    best, n.

  21. I'm glad you feel strong and okay with the fact that your friend decided to go on his own. The good memories are worth so much. I lost my sister the same way, I feel good and sad about it intermittently. I too hope she is happier, and that somehow she can feel more the love I have for her. Thanks for sharing your acceptance and love and thoughts about his life and your friendship.

  23. Sandra, just saying hi and sending you good vibes. I do not know the details but I also think that it is sometimes the most wise to just accept things as they are; and focus & remember the good. Hope that cold passes soon!
