A week in Winter Wonderland

Untitled
I spent xmas in Luleå, north Sweden, with my family. It couldn't have been a more beautiful time. -27°C and snow snow snow.

Untitled
We had saffron semla.

Untitled
Norrbotten, the region where I was born and grew up. Breakfast at my sister's place, with cured Arctic char. Oh my!

Untitled
Woke up to this winter wonderland on Christmas Eve. In the night I went outside to see if I could see some northern lights. Oh yes!!! Crappy iphone pictures, my camera battery has almost given up on life, but hopefully I'll get a new one soon :)

Untitled
Kebab pizza, the most popular pizza in Sweden.

Untitled
I spent a lot of BAD time living in Luleå ;) Johan, my sister & my mother posing in front of the place where I used to go swimming.

Untitled
For those of you who love the movie Let the right one in I can tell you, that this is the swimming pool from that film. Most parts of the film are made in Luleå, in my old school for example. I had nightmares of growing up after watching it.

Untitled
Had a day of fun with my dad and his lovely lady.

Untitled
Winter hair and my nieces on their way to the mountains to go skiing.

Untitled
Klara! My favourite lady :) Johan's breakfast on a late Sunday afternoon, reindeer tartar (I had a toast skagen).

Bye bye winter wonderland!

Thank you all for making the week so special; family and friends! I came home to Berlin feeling pretty empty, everyone I love (except for Johan, phew!) live so far away. I'm happy to have so much love in my life. Hope to go back visit soon :)

  3. *Sigh* A lot of people think that Denmark gets a lot of snow, since we are part of Scandinavia. But sadly snow is not so common and seeing your snowy photos just made me wish that I had accepted a job offer in the northern part of Sweden years ago.....
    Great photos

  4. Camera batteries don't work well in cold freezing conditions, you should warm them up, then they work fine again.
