A month ago Johan and I were in Berlin to search for an apartment and went to look at this one for fun. It looked too shabby in the pictures we saw on the internet and at first coal heating didn't sound like much fun. When we stepped into it, we both fell in love. It's like a Berlin apartment version of Adolf's house.
If I lean out of the balcony I see Fernsehturm, my favourite building in the world. Still can't believe I'm not going to go back to Gothenburg again. All of our stuff will arrive here today.
See you soon!
Wow, this is great news!!!! I am so happy for you!!!! :)
ReplyDeletewow that is awesome - best wishes to you in your new home/city! :)

ReplyDeleteWow, I am so happy for you. To me it seems a big step to move into another country, but Berlin must be great for you. :) I am curious about how your apartment looks when you are settled!

ReplyDeleteThat a real great decision...we consider whether we should even dare. well, in May or June we will be in Berlin for a while again...
ReplyDeleteHERZLICHST izabella
ReplyDeleteJust be careful, I almost killed myself once, heating with coal, having fallen asleep and having closed the stove too early. my flat mate at the time came and woke me up on time.... I still miss Berlin and my last flat there, even the carrying coal up into the 4th floor all the time ;o)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Sandra on following your dreams and getting there...Yay!!!
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiousity...what is that powdery stuff of the floor? Is it sawdust?

Willkommen in Berlin!
ReplyDeleteSome friends of mine love this special warmth that comes from heating with coal. In the last picture the floor looks a lot as if there's GDR varnish on it (under the old glue)…it's a hell of work to get rid of it (in case you wanna do that).
And by the way: The dream you have during you first night in a new home, that comes true…do you remember?
Wow, I can't wait to see more pictures! The handles are amazing....
ReplyDeleteglad you all are excited too!
ReplyDeletePetra > from being cold or did something happen to the oven? glad it all went well for you. we've just fired our first piece of coal. it's cozy!
Gina Lee Bean > it's from underneath a carpet that lied all over the floor. so glad to find wooden floors under it!
hallo heute > vielen dank! we will just paint over it, feels like it's too much work to get rid of the varnish :)
So happy for you ! It will be so nice ! And Berlin...... ♥
ReplyDeleteOh how very exciting - congratulations! It all happened so fast! At least, from my perspective. Coal heating - how interesting! I might be showing my ignorance, but I didn't know apartments had coal heating.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how your new apartment will look once you're all moved in. How big is it?
woohooo!!! Fianlly you're HOME :) So happy for you Sandra, that's the way to start the year!!
ReplyDeletecongrats! it looks beautiful!

ReplyDelete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh yes, painted floors.
a bit of swedish influence. :^)
Dear sandra,
ReplyDeleteWish you and J. all the best in this Berlin adventure!
I think I really like the colour of the tiles in the coal heater. It reminds me of my bathroom back in the 80s... am I ruining it??!? I'm serious, I really like it.
Cariños.
Wonderful start for the year!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd your apartment is in such a lovely part of city...
Berlin, dein Gesicht hat Sommersprossen,
ReplyDeleteund dein Mund ist viel zu groß,
dein Silberblick ist unverdrossen,
doch nie sagst du: »Was mach' ich bloß?«
doch was wärst du ohne sie?
Wer hat dich bloß so jung gehalten,
denn zum Schlafen kommst du nie.
Berlin, mein Gemüt kriegt Kinderaugen,
und mein Puls geht viel zu schnell,
nimmst du mich voller Selbstvertrauen
an dein verknautschtes Bärenfell.
Looks like a wonderful place to start the year, it looks like it has seen so much, but still waiting for you to make your mark on it.
ReplyDeletemen det är ju typ som när ni flytta in in gbg-1:an ju? ;) Blogga mer! Snart!!

yay! welcome to Germany Sandra!! can't wait to say hello in Berlin :)
ReplyDeleteNice view!
ReplyDeleteSo excited that you're living in one of my favorite places in the world and so looking forward to your photos. ;)
Irgendwie so.
ReplyDeletePetra > vielen dank for telling me about this! i will keep my eyes on it. sehr gut zu wissen :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, welcome to my hometown Berlin! It´s wonderful that you´re now here.:)
