wonderful...i love that! it reminds me of the winter.time in my childhood...there where snowflowers on the window every year in winter. i haven´t seen them for a long long time...so thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures of them... it´s magic...!!!
Thanks for the link, very nice ones. I love ice on leaves and the bike shot is amazing. I love snow :-) it just started over here in north italy as well. They predict 10 cm snow fall. Can't wait to walk on it and take pictures too.
On a list of things I miss from my childhood, Eisblumen (ice flowers) would rank pretty high.:)
I think they're not so much a function of the cold and/or the heating, however, but have to do with the windows. You hardly see them anymore because modern windows have two or three layers of glass with air inbetween as insulation. Yours probably consist of just one pane. As pretty as the effect is, you may want to talk to your landlord about getting new windows -- otherwise you're losing a tremendous amount of heat. In the meantime, _do_ take lots of gorgeous photos.:)
thanks for the tip! i love my 112 years old (double) windows so much that it's worth losing some heat during the winter :) they make me happy every day.
Ich habe heute Morgen nach dem Aufwachen auch erstmal die Eiskristalle im Küchenfenster fotografiert, schön dass der Winter auch endlich in Berlin angekommen ist. :)
These pictures are amazing Sandra! They remind me of childhood winters here in the UK, when the snow would be three feet deep and the would be a half inch of ice just like this on our windows. I wish I had had a camera back then and I wish we could have winters like that again. :) Emma, x
wow - you find the motifs for your photos in the most incredible places.....our temperatures are the worst in more than 25 years, but we do not have as incredible windows as you have, despite my appartment being very difficult to warm up, hence wearing a pair of your wrist worms indoors
These photos are breathtaking! Also, just wanted to say that I'm a huge fan of your work. I recently discovered your illustrations and I love your style. It's very unique and interesting and also playful. I recently featured you in a post on my blog theartcake.com where I cover inspiring art and design.
it looks freezing! nicely captured. beautiful and freezing. oh i dream of your side of the world when it gets like this, perhaps its a romanticised version but it is pretty neat from here! x
sweet baby jay jay! that is the most amazing thing I've seen in a long time too. however, I fear for your wellbeing... no serious heating, methinks... ?
Oh I love frost photos! These are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIncredible! How come my windows don't have any of that gorgeous frost? Is Charlottenburg warmer than Friedrichshain? :)
ReplyDeletei guess you have modern heating ;)
Deletewonderful...i love that!

ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd miss the patterns of ice freezing on windows. Haven't seen that in three years now and I miss it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing! The pattern in the second picture makes me think of Arts and Crafts wallpaper.

ReplyDeleteoh my....
ReplyDeleteit must be very cold
but what a beauty it gave
Do you have single-glazed windows? (We do , but it never gets that cold here, so they mostly just get wet in winter)
ReplyDeletedouble, but they are 112 years old :)
DeleteAh, that's really interesting, I didn't know there was double-glazing that long ago! I think our house it from the 1930s or so, not quite as old. :-)
DeleteI really love your photos. Its amazing how you can catch the everyday details and turn them in such pretty images :)
ReplyDeleteSuperbes photos !

ReplyDeletedet lustiga är att det är två fönster på varandra men de beter sig som englasfönster
